Setting zero point and orientation

Postby dknight512 » Sun Nov 20, 2016 4:24 am

Can anyone direct me to any documents that tells me how to set a stationary beacon always to be the zero point and with the same orientation(horizontal plane)?

Also, is there a way to freeze the map without the dashboard?

You can set the starting beacon in the Dashboard: https://youtu.be/vm-nCAJrmVU - notice Starting set of beacons. If you set beacon 5, for example, to be the starting beacon, it will always have (0,0,0) coordinates.

I didn't fully get the comment about orientation ... Please, elaborate the question.

Yes, we open some API. My colleague will comment what is currently opened and what is not concerning functionality duplicating the Dashboard's functionality.

Here is protocol for controlling the modem via USB interface:
http://marvelmind.com/pics/modem_usb_pr ... _07_02.pdf
Dashboard uses this protocol, and it can be implemented in any user software.
Freezeng of the map is available by command "writing modem configuration", see sections 3.2 and 3.3 of the document.

For the orientation, e.g. in the video link you gave, if you set 5 as starting bacon. Will beacon 4 ALWAYS right to 5 every time you start system, or it will appear up to beacon 5?

OK. Does that mean I need write my own modem control program to do so? Or is there a way to let modem hearing on UDP port without opening dashboard?

If the map is not frozen, the beacons orientation may vary.
But there is way to make stable orientation - attach beacons to the axes as shown in this topic:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=436
If the map is already frozen, beacons should never change their orientation without user commands.

Yes, you need to write your own program with implementation of the protocol for control the modem.
We plan to make example program for this protocol, but now it is not ready yet.
We also plan to publish new version of the protocol and open more functions for modem control.

Unfortunately modem can not listen UDP port. It is connected to PC via virtual UART interface, UDP is not available for modem.

Any update now? Has the modem example program available now? And where can I find all up to date documents?

Yes, the example program for modem is now available:
http://www.marvelmind.com/downloads/201 ... xample.zip
It is only an example, so not all commands from published protocol are implemented.
The updated protocol is here:
http://www.marvelmind.com/downloads/mod ... _01_27.pdf
All these links you can find on our site http://www.marvelmind.com in the section 'Modem and dashboard interfaces'.
