read all beacons from USB modem

Postby marvelonmymind » Mon Aug 14, 2017 7:32 pm

Hi,

I want to read all mobile beacon from the USB Modem using the virtual com port but I don't understand how to retrieve a precise beacon ? There is one command " Reading the latest coordinates pack " that the read the last 6 coordinates. How to be sure to not missed beacon value if you have for example more than 6 beacon ?
One more question : can I do all the setup without utilizing the dashboard app ? For example Do I need to open Dashboard to freeze the map before directly use ?

Best regards

Hello,
In current implementation there is no way to request position of single selected beacon. The possible request is to read all beacons positions by groups of 6 beacons. To be sure you not skip the position updates, you can send request with frequency more than update rate of the system.
Another way is to use streaming protocol, when modem sends position of mobile beacons every time when it is updated. The streaming is activated if modem not receives any requests during 3 seconds. Modem sends streaming data without request, user software should listen and capture it. Every mobile beacon also streams coordinates in the same format as modem. In previous version of software mobile beacon could send only its own coordinates, but in new version (5.72+) is sends positions of all mobile beacons, like modem.
The streaming protocol is described here:

Some of the functions for map setup already available in protocol:

For freezing map the command 'Writing submap configuration' (section 3.2) is used.
Now we have example for impementation some commands from this protocol, but freezing is not yet included to it::

We plan to expand this library for using it as API both for dashboard and any user software.

Hi,

thanks for your answer but the streaming protocol go to a bad link and I can't see it. Is there a way also to grab the orientation thru the modem when it's an IMU Beacon ?

Orientation is not available from modem in current version. Only raw data from the IMU sensors are available on the mobile beacon.
